Does this device work with C64 in PAL?

The adapter works for PAL (50 Hz) and NTSC (60 Hz). It is composite only so not S-Video compatible.

Do not buy this to use with your c64, as it only supports 720p and 1080p and skews your picture. The picture looks okay, but it will be stretched.

This does an acceptable job of converting composite (generically Yellow-colored RCA jack) and stereo audio to HDMI, and can be switched between 720p and 1080p. However, it relies on the receiving device to handle the aspect ratio. Most devices that use this type of connector were designed for 4:3 ratio screens, most modern HDMI-inputting screens are 16:9, 16:10, or some ultra-wide resolution, so this skews the picture. Most devices intended to be televisions will have options in their menus to shift to 4:3, most monitors do not. My Atari 800XL looked awful stretched to 16:9, so I ended up getting a different adapter that had a 4:3/16:9 selector switch built into it.

Question
BoogersMcMurphy –
Will this scale to include all border areas of c64 on screen? I need an upscaler that keeps border shown for programs that utilize the complete border area (such as SidWizard, and various demos). Last upscaler I tried did not. Also does it keep 4:3 source aspect ratio?

I’m a little bit disappointed because this converter doesn’t want to work with my C64 C version (PAL) but it works fine with my old DVD player! I bought it to connect my C64 to my HDMI monitor but the only thing it displays is NO SINGNAL.

I bought one for my 800XL and not expecting much. But, the quality is far better than I expected without any video mods to the 800XL.
I’ve noticed some people mentioning that it doesn’t support 4:3 and to that I would simply say change the aspect ratio on your TV to 4:3.
I’m buying a second one so that I can run my 130XE alongside the 800XL ๐
